Meet The Badass Founder
Hi, I’m Melody, and I’m the founder of Curious Twist. I have loved cross stitch for years, and use it as an outlet for my creativity and a way to relax. I’m probably not quite what you have in mind when you conjure up mental images of someone who spends her time doing needlecrafts, but I’ve given it my own spin – as you will see from my designs.
Back in 2017, I quit my regular job and set about working on Curious Twist full time. I currently work from my spare room In Bradford where I live with my two dogs and grumpy old cat. I also have a grown-up daughter who lives just up the road in Leeds (I know, I don’t look old enough, right?!). She’s a budding feminist, CEO and all-round badass, so I know I’ve done an OK job!
I drink a lot of coffee, swear like a sailor (well, I was in the Navy in a previous life but that’s a story for another time!) and have dozens of sketchbooks full of cross stitch designs that I jot down when I think of a good phrase, hear a funny conversation or see something extraordinary. I find that cross stitch is a great way to relax and express myself at the same time. I love playing about with new designs and not giving a shit if they’re perfect or not because there’s a place for everything.
About Curious Twist
I produce naughty, sassy and sweary cross stitch patterns that are sold through Etsy. They come in the form of cross stitch patterns, cross stitch kits containing all the necessary supplies for you to stitch yourself, and pre-made designs. They all make great gifts, whether its to take some time out and get creative yourself or for a loved one to stitch and display. Be careful who you give them to though, this might not entirely be the crafts kit your Nan was after!
All of the Curious Twist cross stitch patterns and kits are suitable for beginners, so you don’t need any experience; but if you are a dab hand with a needle, you can customise and add to it and make it your own.
